RESEARCH

The promise of happiness through consumption:

Brands and advertising persuade consumers that if we buy into these products or services we will be happy. Showing images of happy people, families, friends suggests that these products can help the consumer achieve that too. This leads people to believe that they have to buy their happiness leading to negative psychological effects such as depression.

Coco Cola - Open Happiness




McDonalds - Happy Meal



Cadburys - Free the joy
