OUGD501 Study Task 05: Studio Brief 2 - Research (Antrepo: Minimalist effect in the maximalist market)

Antrepo: Minimalist effect in the maximalist market (It's Nice That):

I came across an It's Nice That article which features a project by Antrepo, a multi-disciplinary design consultancy producing “a fresh design object for better tomorrow”. This project is about simplicity and exploring an alternative, simpler version of familiar packaging. The three versions include the original, simple variation and finally a considerably simpler version.

The samples include Mr Muscle, Durex, Red Bull, Corn Flakes, Nesquik, Nutella, Schweppes and Pringles.

This project is useful to me because by stripping back the design on these well known brands, it has created something which appears more luxurious and higher end quality. Minimal design looks beautiful because of it's simplicity, which then helps the product to look in some cases more high quality. I could make use of this technique when redesigning the super noodles, producing a less cluttered and clearer design. Getting rid of gradient backgrounds seems to make the design less tacky, and working with minimal colours.
