3 x graphic prototypes (3 proposed solutions) (3 A3 design sheets)
Requirements: 3 x proposed solutions derived from idea generation stage. Visualisations can be fairly rough at this stage but they must be accompanied by an explanation/justification in reference to the original problem/brief. At this stage it will be necessary to seek feedback on your proposed ideas from peers and tutors. Feedback will help to direct your developments.
Design Idea One:
My first design idea is to go with a half and half colour packet similar to the style they currently have. I tried out the blue and yellow but it made the design look to garish and cheap. Therefore I decided to pair the blue with the black as this creates a more appealing, less in your face design. I kept the start the same colour as the flavour it would be representing.
Finding a suitable typeface is proving to be the most difficult part and what position to put it in.
Avenir Light:
Verdana Regular:
Gill Sans Light:
DIN Alternate:
Kohinoor Bangala:
Sathu:
I think that the most appropriate typeface is Avenir Light, the straight, tall, thin letterforms help to create a more expensive feel to the brand. The consistent stroke width also helps to keep it looking organised.
I decided to change the colour of the blue to a slightly darker tone to help feel more of a luxury item.
From some quick feedback it was suggested to include a pattern to try and take up some of the space. I also added the logo in greyscale because the bright red seems cheap, and doesn't give off the luxury appeal.
Explanation/Justification:
The simple, minimal design helps it to feel less cluttered and therefore has a more honest design. The half and half colour is to remind people of the old packet design so that it is recognisable for loyal consumers. The smaller star relates to the old design while being at this smaller scale help it to not seem as tacky. The typefaces consistent weight and stroke width help to create a sense of luxury.
Feedback:
- The typeface doesn't work with the lines
- Navy and black don't work together
- More relatable to the brand
